WILHELMSBURG, AUSTRIA

The LAUFEN factory in Wilhelmsburg can look back on a great tradition, as early as 1795 a Factory for English Stoneware was founded here. Passed from generation to generation, ceramic expertise has been honed to a fine art in bathroom ceramics. As of 1960 the production facilities and Gmunden factory together assumed the company name of Österreichische Sanitär-, Keramik- und Porzellan-Industrie Aktiengesell- schaft (ÖSPAG). In 1967 the Keramik Holding AG Laufen acquired a majority shareholding, and in 1999 LAUFEN became part of the Spanish Roca Group.

Bathroom ceramics from Wilhelmsburg are primarily characterised by their outstanding quality, certified to the international standard ISO 9001 and fulfilling all technical test standards (EN). The factory specialises mainly in the manufacture of large quantities of sophisticated ceramics in premium quality. Environmental protection also plays a key role, LAUFEN Austria AG is certified to ISO 14001 and assessed according to the provisions of the EMAS regulation. LAUFEN Austria AG was awarded the EMAS Environment Prize 2007 for its outstanding environmental achievements.
